Quirks...

Just as how late the other blog is, so is this one (another pahabol). Here goes.

GRANDS - the super last tournament of all time. As in, last tournament of my debating career like, ever. But... it was PHENOMENAL. Two days of bootcamp training. Measure of intensity: lectures and debates galore. And, two hours extension per day (meaning we'd end at 8pm on both days.) But yeah, it worked. Props to Mikki and Dani, we made SEMIS! (suuuper happy). Senior and freshman support, plus gaba's barkada.
Pola's near death experience. Don't ever try facing backward, talking to people, when a manhole is just like two steps away.
Pulling up into the emergency room of the hospital, thinking it was the venue for the grands.
Getting lost. P Tuazon and D Tuazon are apparently two different streets. We went in circles for an hour and a half.
Upholding tradition. Dinner at high street, dessert at cupcakes. We re-lived the ball thing, but now we have those funny bell souding orange cylindrical whatevers.
Gaba's public speaking. Champion!! Hahaha. Seize the day. But time is gold. So, seize the root of all seizing, i.e. Kip Oebanda. Didn't really work. Xavier still seized the day. But well deserved finals, guys!

MOST - Mica's awarding. It was school spirit at it's best. We were only given like 15 seats, but we obviously have talent for sneaking in and stealing seats. Chorale performace, with a very small stage. But had so much fun watching it. Mica and Mundi's videos, super cute dance number, and the like. And, free food afterwards. Congrats Mica! We're proud of you!

RETREAT - Lots of praying. Lots of bonding.
Not really very much to say, except for Batch 08 is lalalalave. The activities were panalo funny, like the tarp flipping around thing (Patty and I did a demo with hands and a newspaper for sample. It worked). The sorry and thank you candles were great too... :)

For your enjoyment, the retreat was my SABAW moment. Here are samples of my super stupidity, proof that I have nothing left in my brain. Not that I'll need it for a while, so it's acceptable naman, hahaha. Presenting, cabin 31B sabawness: (yes, the cabins sounded like bra sizes.)

On the origin of gospel choirs:
Pam: I have specifications for a gospel choir. It has to be a black gospel choir.
Mikes: Yeah.
Abby and Isha: Racists.
Pam: Fine, it can be a while gospel choir. But the lead singer has to be black.
Isha: What's so great about black people ba?
Mikes: They have really powerful voices.
Abby: They have soul.
Isha: Yeah, but WHY?
Abby: Because they were slaves. And they have to scream.
XD Whaaaat?

Super quiet in the cabin. Noise outside.
Pam: I think I hear my name.
Gel: Pam. My phone.

On the discussion of nicknames:
Mikes: What do you think? I like the long one better.
Pam: It's unappealing. Guys, any name that's than one STANZA long is fun to pronounce.
Erm... Stanza? Every name is more than one stanza.

On prom.. and grammatical errors:
Abby: Guys, remember during prom?
Everyone: What?
Abby: The guy, the emcee.
Mikey: Oh yeah! Dutch and Dutchess!
Pam: *repeating to herself* Dutch and Dutchess. Guys, what's so wrong with that?
Everyone: It's DUKE and DUTCHESS!
Oops.

On the theme of holy week:
Pam: Yeah, I do the seven church visit.
Mikey; That IS bisita iglesia. You know, in the province, they have the PASYON. It's being stuck in the middle of nowhere, and every church has it there. You have these old ladies going waaahwaaahwaaah.
Note that Gel couldn't get over that. So much, that right after...
Pam: Kay guys, time to go. (for way of the cross).
Gel: Guys, where's the pasyon?
And take two... while already at the way of the cross.
Gel: *searching thru her folder* Guys, I can't find the Passion of the Christ.
Erm... there are some things that take a while to get over.

On college...
Therese: Yeah, is the fab four going to ateneo?
Abby: Yeah, except Cato. Wait, Miko's ateneo? What course?
Pam: AB Meco.
Abby: Ejay? Is he ateneo too?
Pam: Hoy, blockmate natin 'yun!
Abby: Ah, so yeah. Everyone's ateneo.
Therese: (with a lotta conviction) Yeah! And Jarvin's going to Anton!
Erm... Kinda close, Therese. You just missed it by two more E's... unless of course, there is a college that exists. Unlikely.

On the concept of time...
Pam (to Chrissa): We've been doing this everyday.
Mikey: Pam, we've only been here for TWO days.

On racism:
Pam: *making kwento about grands* Basta, one of them said that they were referring to Chinese culture, in which marraige is not taken seriously. And then, the Member of Opp said, that they were the only team in the finals that wasn't chinese. Kasi, chinese, like indians, daw, have this promiscuity thing. Where the debate was set up.
Isha: Pam, you racist!
Pam: I AM CHINESE!

On physics... or the attempt to sound like it...
(Therese has just killed a mosquito on the wall using a pillow)
Pam: (did not see Therese) It's impossible to kill a mosquito with a pillow. It's too soft.
Mikey: But she just did.
Abby: yeah, it's just physics. You know, torque.
Rest of the world:..... *kroo*
Pam: This HAS to go on the sabaw pad.
Mikey: Yeah! I mean, it's not torque, it's pressure!
Abby: Anong pressure? FORCE! You're sabaw too!

Ugh, okay there. Make fun of me. Laugh at me. Again... (like Miss Q.)

The checklist...

A lot is going on... A LOT. None of which are done yet, btw... so a-la-Nash-reply speech... I'll just go down a quick check list... on what the hell I'm supposed to be doing... (gaaah... I'm back to my time tabled life... I miss spontaineity) 1. WIT - actually this is done... it went well!! We got some possible new recruits... and it was actually fun to miss a lot of class to adj debates... and miss even more class tabbing... 2. Campaign - hasn't started... but being campaign manager has its perks and downfalls (such as shortened lunch). MOVE doesn't have a final line up yet... but anyway... it's currently on low priority... 3. Sendoff - gawd don't talk to me about this. I haven't started yet. I will, when I actually have the time to do so. 4. Prom - just finished up getting the last minute things... I'm going to spend the week breathing now... just those reaaaally minor details na lang... JUST GET IT OVER WITH NA! I swear, the planning and talking n...

To restage or not to restage...

The poll is up. Should the Gabay production of Songs for a New World do a restaging? Hit the comment button, and state your name, answer, and justification. This way, certain people won't vote numerous times. I cannot believe I'm even opening to that situation.

WR Debaters are sorority sisters... :)

It's been a little bit under hell over the past two days, so it's been hard to find the time to blog about IISDC. The teachers decided to give no mercy and imposed all make up tests to be taken today. Naturally, we died studying last night. But... the point is... it was well worth it. It's super hard to actually describe IISDC 2006, so here's the rundown on the highlights. 1. Mega SQUISH!! 12 people in Eagle star!! - Just when we thought that 8 people in a condo was difficult last year, we tried 12 this year. It took a lot of mattresses and fixing up every single day, lots of squishing, waiting for Gaba to turn off the lights, and sleeping on the floor. Imagine, the condo is originally for two people, and we fit six times more than that. Achievement! Well, it just involved having no space after all the bags were unloaded and after the sleeping bags were rolled down. But, that just adds to the fun of it! 2. No sleep, really - okay, so we still slept a little, but we woul...
